Spotlight on Spring Grinding

Some springs, like compression springs, require that their ends be ground to a flattened state in order to facilitate their positioning when used in service. Spring-end grinding is carried out on spring grinding machines that are equipped with abrasive grinding wheels (also called grinding stones). This operation is said to be one of the most expensive operations in the process of manufacturing compression springs. Because of this, spring grinding machine makers and suppliers of spring grinding wheels put a good amount of effort into improving the grinding operation by reducing the grinding time and increasing the life of the grinding wheel.
